Description

The young ginger tom had strayed too far from the border as a dare from some other apprentice - he had to hunt on RippleClan land, but had gotten lost in the proccess. The sly she-cat was watching the tom with interest. No cat had ever seemed this giulty or nervous about straying into another cat's territory. She wanted to see his reaction if she frightened her. "Well," she said loudly. The young tom jumped in fright. "Why would there be a CloudClan apprentice on our territory?" Hawkfeather held up her paw, her claws retracted. "I could hurt you if I wanted." Swallowpaw spun around, unsheathed his claws and brustled his fur in order to make him look more intimidating - but really it was obvious that he was shaking with fear. Mouse brain, he thought to himself."No you couldn't! I'm stronger than I look!" the apprentice's mew was high pitched, like how a kit would sound when another challenged it. "And yet you do not have my years of experience," Hawkfeather replied threateningly, her eyes flashing. She lowered her paw and sighed. "Lucky for you, I do not wish to pick a fight. But, I would like to know what you are doing in my clan's territory." Swallowpaw still kept his stance; he did not trust this cat and lashed his tail. "Uh," the tom mewed helplessly; he could not tell her the real reason. StarClan help me, he thought. "I got lost," he finally said, even though it was a lie. Hawkfeather widened her eyes and walked up loser to the young tom. "Is that so?" she asked. The apprentice nodded nervously. "You should know that your Clan is nowhere near here." The she-cat matched in triumph as the little cat looked around guiltily. "You should trust me," Hawkfeather added kindly. "I am RippleClan's Medicine Cat. What are you hiding from me?" The tom shook in fear as he looked up at the Medicine Cat and sighed. "Some older apprentices dared me to hunt on LightningClan territory; they said I'd be just a scared fluff-ball if I didn't do it. I got lost on the way," he said. The Medicine Cat nodded kindly. "I understand, and believe your story. You can tell me more about this dare as I escort you back to your Clan," she said, signally the young tom to follow her. "I must talk to your leader about this. You know that, don't you?" Swallowpaw nodded. "And since she's my mentor she'll probably make me tend to the elders for a moon," he sighed. "Or what if she dosen't let me go to the gathering!?" he gasped. Hawkfeather looked at the apprentice with kind understanding. "Then you'll have a chance next moon. Until then, try and ignore those older apprentices; they seem to be your main issue at the moment." Swallowpaw sighed and looked down at his paws. "Okay..." he said miserably. Hawkfeather trotted along the path, the small tom close behind her heels. Eventually, in a shorter time than she would have thought, they arrived at the CloudClan's camp. The she-cat followed the young cat inside and heaed to the leaders den. Swallowpaw sat outside of the apprentice den as he waited for his punishment. After a brief conversation, the she-cat emerged, followed by a scowling CloudClan leader, who looked down at his apprentice in concern."I'll let you two deal with the rest. I must head back home, now," Hawkfeather added.
